But for years, the label felt like a scarlet letter. A restless spirit led by a curiosity and hunger for knowledge and art took me from crafts such as piano to ballet, singing to acting– only to abandon them one by one as each instructor saw talent and demanded commitment.
The words seemed to echo, “Tara, you’re a jack of all trades and a master of none. If you don’t stick with something, that’s all you’ll ever be.”
But I yearned to explore, my curiosity a compass guiding me into unknown creative territories. And in the chaos of my youth, the truth became clear. I was no mere jack of all trades. I was a master of the unexpected. A master of being a jack of all trades. I could dive into anything, learn the ropes quickly, and create something wonderful from nothing.
That is no scarlet letter.
That is a gift.
